Trout Being Stocked at Lakes in Louisville, Northern Kentucky and Frankfort

Apr 03, 2008

Frankfort, Ky. - Neighborhood lakes in Louisville, Northern Kentucky and Frankfort will receive stockings of rainbow trout within the next two weeks. These same lakes received a stocking of channel catfish and hybrid bluegill this week.

In Jefferson County, Tom Wallace Lake will receive 2,000 trout April 8, while Miles Park Lake No. 4 will receive 1,500 trout April 9. The following day, Middleton-Mills Lake in Kenton County will receive 500 trout, and Stein Community Lake (formerly the Alexandria Community Park Lake) in Campbell County will receive 2,000 trout. The final stocking of 2,000 trout will occur April 15 at the Upper Sportsman's Lake in Franklin County, located at the headquarters of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

These lakes are part of the department's Fishing in Neighborhoods (FINs) program, an effort by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to provide quality fishing opportunities closer to the state's high population areas.

Adults fishing in these lakes must possess a valid fishing license, in addition to a trout permit if they wish to keep trout. Youths under the age of 16 do not need a fishing license or trout permit. Planned stocking dates may change if unforeseen circumstances arise.
